Apple Has Expanded Its Business Self-Service Listing For Maps In The UK and Ireland .

UK Small business owners can now put their place of business and contact details on Apple cards through the Maps service that Apple launched in the US last October. The service has quietly launched in Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.

The portal allows business owners or managers to add and update the company information that is displayed on Apple Maps. To login to the portal, business owners must have set up an Apple ID.

The companies that are already listed on Yelp it will be easier to register with Maps, based on the Yelp directory for information and images. For businesses, they will be able to simply "claim" their company after executing a search name and city.

Apple's verification process for Maps requires that a person claiming to be the owner of a company can answer a call to the company's phone number. An automated service calls the number and plays a PIN is required to access the profile.

Companies should then choose a business category they work and confirm the opening hours of the business. They can also list links to their social media profiles on Yelp, Facebook and Twitter as well as their own website.

However, there are still many places Maps is not yet available, companies are interested in using the service can ask to be notified when it becomes available.
