Apple IPhone 6 + 6 Plus continues to dominate all four major U.S carriers with Samsung Galaxy Note 4 to put a good show.
The takeaway: Big screen mobile devices are killing it. And these are the devices that consumers and producers are bringing to work. The latest data point about IPhone sales come from Canaccord Genuity's T. Michael Walkley, an analyst that conducts channel checks monthly.
With reports income December quarter landing this week and the rest of January all eyes are on Apple mobile devices and how it can sell. As reported earlier today the turbulence of smartphone sales has an impact on the supply chain and tech vendors. Apple entering upscale market share and that is putting pressure on Samsung.
Walkley Wrote:
Our surveys of U.S smartphones in December and January indicated a strong demand and high ranking market share for IPhone 6/6 more smartphones. While our investigations have shown gradual improvement store availability for superior memory (64 GB and 128 GB) IPhone 6/6 Plus models we believe overall supply remains lower consumer demand with 64 GB popular for a very tight UGS limited supply. With our surveys indicating strong December sales holiday quarter with continued strong demand in January especially for high ASP higher memory models we have increased our December quarter Apple IPhone and global estimates.
In addition Apple's customer acquisition and future upgrade cycles. Should provide catch up with demand Apple is likely to catch the front over Android sales launch at the next Mobile World Congress in March.
Other odds and ends:
Customers are moving to 64GB devices.
G3 Turbo LG and Motorola Droid are also popular carriers.
But Apple has probably had more than 50 percent of smartphone sales in the U.S during the quarter.
